StoryBoards & Playboards

PlayBoards

We were asked to create a storyboard for a game based on the model that we had made. The challenge was that we had to have at least three different moves that can be made by the main character which created a branched storyboard, I decided to create five different possible choices.

How I created my PlayBoard

I hand drew my story and got it scanned in. After I got it scanned I used a piece of software that I hadn’t used before (INDESIGN). I used this to piece together all of the parts that I had drawn and then I finally saved it as a PDF file which was then uploaded to Weblearn. I changed the file format again to JPEG images when I uploaded them onto WordPress.

StoryBoard

Unlike a Playboard which shows off how the story progresses in detail, a StoryBoard is used for the planning of the shots and character actions that will happen within the Story itself.

At the beginning of Year 2, we were given a task to create a StoryBoard on Mind Tricks which was written by Rachel Langford who is another student at Nescot College, it was also edited by my Art Teacher from the first year of my course (Graham Chalk). Each student was told to create a story board on one part of the story, I was told to create a storyboard on the first part of the story where one of the characters named David, tries to convince his friend (Connor) that his sister was a jedi from Star Wars. Due to some of the writing being unreadable I’m going to type what it says at the bottom of each shot.
