Techniques in Music videos
Two types of music video techniques are allusion and lyric inspiration.
Allusion
The technique Allusion is when the song references something like an event or even another artist. An example of this is from Eminem with one of his songs called “The Real Slim Shady” which was released in the year 2000. In the song Eminem references artists such as Britney Spears and Fred Durst from the band “Limp Bizkit”.
Dark Locations, Special Effects etc
In terms of Indie/Rock there are many conventions used such as dark locations, band is usually shown in the background and some uses of special effects. The song, “The Pretender” by the Foo Fighters which was released in 2009 is a great example of all three of these techniques.
