GAME OVER NEWS REPORT – VFX SHOT

INTRODUCTION

On the 5th September, our college class was given a small 3 week induction project on the first day back for the second year of our Games, VFX & and animation course.

The backstory for the project was set in the year 2037. This is 6 years after the government decided to ban all types of games as studies had supposedly shown that games have bad effects on the brain, especially on children. Riots have broken out causing destruction due to the outrage caused by the prevention of video games.

Our class was split into 4 groups. Our task was to create a news report based on the riots while adding visual effects to make it look like a real news report.

My group included Connor Tong, Kyla Gray, Jed Wise, Alex Desbruslais, Jack Brigdale, Cherry Pullin and myself. Our group took it one step further by not only using VFX but 3D models, rigging and animation as well. Our project was split into three weeks for a reason. The first week was meant for the pre-production of the VFX shot meaning we had drawn little sketches of how we wanted the scene to be set out and it also included a script that cherry had created for the news reporter a, the second week was for the actual production of the project and the third week was for post production

CONTRIBUTED IN MY GROUP

My roles inside of my group changed over time just because we changed the way we wanted our small project to be set out originally I was supposed to be helping Connor with the 3-D modelling of two separate drones one that he created and one that I was going to create I was halfway through the process of the model and I was almost ready to start texturing my drone. However, we scrapped the idea as it would have meant they we would have had to rig both drones to move in a certain scene where the riots were going on and considering we only had a small amount of time.
